HARLEN THE SPORTS GUY

Born in Austin, raised in Houston, college in Lubbock (Wreck’Em Tech!!!), managed restaurants all over West Texas, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Austin, before moving to East Texas in 1994 to work in Longview and Tyler. Left the restaurant industry in 2001 to work at KYKX. I had been Harlen The Sports Guy briefly before on another radio station no longer in East Texas. So as much on-air time as I could get while working as a salesman, I grabbed! The Friday Night Scoreboard show started that same year, as a much smaller version of what we put on now.
The best day of my life was September 11, 1997, when the good lord gave me Kennedy Rebecca to take care of! Apple of me eye, wrapped around her finger, the whole bit! She’s smart, pretty, and a whole lot funnier than I am, and I LOVE it! By the way, the second best day of my life was January 31, 1993….Cowboys 52 – Bills 17!!! My third favorite day??? It’s a tie with the first Friday night of very High School football season! Obviously my hobbies are mostly sports centered: Cowboys, Rangers, Texas Tech, Purdue, Golf, Tennis, and any sport I can keep Kennedy interested in participating in. I studied music at Tech, so Music is a huge part of my life…George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Neil Diamond, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Brad Paisley, U2, Sugarland, AC/DC with about a 1,000 others in my ipod right now. Plus I play a pretty mean Guitar Hero!! I have a Totally Awesome girlfriend, named Katy, and she loves the Rangers more than I do! What else……Oh yeah, Kennedy, my brother Lincoln, and Pigskin Bob are the three funniest people I know!!!
