Kree Harrison, "All Cried Out" - Single Review

Kree-Harrison-2013-300-01
Kree Harrison is one heck of a vocalist.

As her potential debut single (it has not been confirmed, but she did tell MTV News that she wants it to be), "All Cried Out" is a knock-out punch of emotions. Coming from a place of unabashed honesty, Kree pours her pain and soul into the song's stirring lyrics. The tune was co-written by Katrina Elam, Gordie Sampsonand Steve McEwan -- the songwriters behind such hits for Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Eli Young Band, Hunter Hayes, Reba McEntire and newcomer Lauren Alaina.

At first listen, I got chills. That doesn't happen often, but when it does, I know I'm listening to something really special.

Taylor Swift's new neighbors really don't like her

. . .and the stalkers that come with her

6a00e552403d2f8833017eeaa0da4b970d-500wi
Sheesh. Looks like the rich folks that live near Taylor Swift's shiny new house on the beach in Rhode Island aren't digging their new famous neighbor.

After a crazed Taylor Swift fan decided to take a couple mile swim to Taylor's new pad at 2 in the morning earlier this week, one of Taylor's neighbors decided to write to CDAN to gripe.

"I want to remain completely anonymous, but as someone who lives where Taylor Swift just bought a summer home, it's already a circus. Apparently there has been a stalker scare so a section of the beach is roped off. We live here all year, pay taxes all year, to enjoy three months at the beach...and now that might be in jeopardy. I don't want to speak for everyone, but you're kinda not welcome."

Completely anonymous? Sounds like someone doesn't want to jeopardize an invite to any of Taylor's sure-to-be-amazing summer barbecues that I'm sure she'll be throwing.

George Strait Calls Tour

"Bittersweet"
George Strait

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

While George Strait says his Cowboy Rides Away tour has been one of the most fun tours he's done, it's also pretty sad. "It's a little bittersweet knowing that some of these places I'll never go back to and play again," Strait says in a video interview. "And I've been doing 'em for over 30 years." So it sounds like he's trying to fill up his memory bank with all the good times. "I'm taking it all in. I'm soaking it up, man. And the crowd is giving it to me," he adds. It's great to hear him talk about being onstage from his perspective. I also love hearing how much Strait loves recording, and that now that he's starting songwriting, he doesn't want an album to go by that doesn't have at least one song of his on it. As for his new album Love Is Everything, Strait explains why he chose that to be the title. "The world revolves around love, you know? Love is something that if you lose it, it's gonna hurt.

Is Miranda Lambert pregnant?

Miranda's mom spills the beans

And the beans are that Miranda is most definitely not pregnant.

I know, I know, booo.

I guess everyone's getting tired of hearing Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert say they're not having a baby anytime soon because now RadarOnline has moved onto asking Miranda's mom about the baby bump rumors.

"They are totally not expecting!" Miranda's mom, Beverly Lambert, told Radar. "And I'm fairly certain that I would be the first person to know."

I don't know, my husband found out he was going to be a grandfather on Facebook so you never can be sure these days.

Keith Urban’s ‘Little Bit of Everything’

– The Least Country Song This Year - Review

Little-Bit-of-Everything

Let me get this straight: This is not a country song. I know these days classifying whether something is 'country' or not is subjective, but I'm laying down the authority on this one. I've never been a huge fan of Keith personally save a couple of songs, because I always found them too country pop in an overwhelmingly peppy way (and no, it's not 'country rock' just because he has an electric guitar). However, when it came to listening to this song, and reading a fan's comment, stating that this was 'more country', I pretty much lost faith in the state of country music today.

I don't know what this fan was comparing 'Little Bit of Everything' to, but suffice to say I fail to align this song to anything remotely country. Apart from that token banjo that keeps popping up in everything laundry-list, the R&B beat, tinge of nasally autotune and technological edits that only serve to annoy simply sound like pop music to me. While the melody is sweet, it is bland; at best, this is cheery elevator or store music. Having said that, I did count my blessings when the bridge arrived, and the perfect conditions for a country rap presented themselves. Keith almost hints at it before dropping back into actual singing (remember that stuff?), and I breathed the biggest sigh of relief since Taylor Swift stopped winning country awards. Speaking of which, the explanation for Keith's 'new sound' is clear: his new producer is Nathan Chapman, longtime producer of Swift. Maybe with his renewed popularity 'with the kidz' on American Idol sparked an interest, either from him or his label or both, in reaching that market with creative output. Because I honestly can't imagine anyone older than the age of 21 taking this seriously as a great song, and frankly this is ridiculous coming from a man in his 40s.

Help prank Brad Paisley

Paisley

Brad Paisley has pulled some pretty good pranks over the years. He's also been pranked a few times.

My favorite had to be when Eric Church counterfeited 200 Brad Paisley meet & greet passes and randomly passed them out to concert goers.

Have you ever thought to yourself, "Man, if I was one of Brad's openers, I'd get him back soooo good!"

Well, here's your chance. Lee Brice has asked my radio show for some help coming up with ideas. Got a prank idea? Email me, broadway@country925.com
